In Previews: ATL’s Apprentice Actors

The Actors Theatre apprentice program is known nationally for its rigorous training and strong performances. This year it’s expressed in the sleep-themed triptych Sleep Rock Thy Brain.

The Humana Festival marked the end of their training with a performance for 25 industry reps — casting directors and talent agents who may hire them soon. ATL prides itself on preparing performers for the shock of professional life and the more unforgiving aspects of the business.  Here’s what a handful of apprentices are thinking about as they near graduation:

Andy Reinhardt remembers the play that got him to drop his Political Science major and start acting — and the piece of advice he’ll take with him post-ATL.

ATL apprentices take on a wide variety of roles, onstage and off-, during their term. Samantha Beach describes her critical part in the long-running Dracula.

Chalia La Tour wrestles with her “type.”
